Emergency Preparedness
Emergency Preparedness Planning Guide (MS Word)
This guide is designed to provide users with a structure and information on the various functions concerning response to an emergency or disaster on or off campus.THIS IS NOT A TEMPLATE INTO WHICH NAMES MAY SIMPLY BE INSERTED
The guide is modeled after the Minnesota State Emergency Operations plan and is functionally oriented. It is compliant with the National Response Framework and the National Incident Management System. This still required planners to develop processes and plans in order to fulfill applicable functions. If there are functions that do not apply to your campus (Ex. Radiological Response) simply address it as not applicable and leave it in the contents. If there are things that are referenced in the Crisis Intervention Plan or the Continuity of Operations plan, simply reference that in the body or section it applies to.
Planners can use those plans already in place and simply cut and paste them into this guide. These existing plans and procedures should be integrated into the appropriate places within the guide, to make sense and flow logically through the response. Each section and Annex has place markers for local procedures and processes. Planners may also choose to develop or place existing procedures or plans into Appendices at the end of appropriate Annexes.
Be aware that certain material may be considered confidential so protect your plans accordingly. If there are questions seek General Counsel advice.
NOTE: If your campus already has a graduated or incremental response based on a number system or alphabetical system (i.e., a Type 1 event, Type 2, Type A, Type B, etc.,) this would go in the Basic Plan or Annex B in the appropriate section.
